It has been a great year for us here at Detwiler’s! Thank you all for all your support. Our staff works so hard to bring you the best quality products at the best price, but without our loyal customers, we wouldn’t be here. So, thank you!
For us as a family we had some special highlights this year. There were new family members added! Grace married Anthony Yoder in August. Two new grandchildren were added as well! Caleb and Shavonne welcomed their 4th child, Tate Archie, and Joshua and Emily welcomed their 3rd son, Owen Daniel.
Hurricane Ian is not forgotten, and the aftermath is a huge challenge our community all faced together, with many still rebuilding and getting back to normal. Many of us experienced loss and felt the frustrations and pain of damage and loss. Rebuilding our Palmer store is still ongoing, and we hope to be able to open again soon. Through all the hardship, it was encouraging to watch so many people come together to love and support one another.

The story of Christmas is a story of love: No greater love can be found than the love of a Savior for a sinner. John 3:16 says, “For God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life.” All of us have insecurities and fears and we struggle with accepting and receiving love. We also struggle with the other side of love, which is showing or giving love and grace to others.
God the Father sent His only Son who gave His life to show us what true love is and what true love is and what true love does. It is patient and kind. It gives up its own rights. It serves rather than being served. John 3:16 is really the Christmas story. The baby that was born in a manger was born to become the Savior that would one day give His life for all of us when He died on the cross. He came to earth and became what we are, so we can one day live with Him in heaven. The Bible says, “whosoever.” I like that because it includes me. I like the part “believes” even better because we all have that ability. There are no qualifications. Just whoever believes in Jesus can be with him forever.
You can read Luke’s account of the birth of Christ in Luke 2. It’s a beautiful story of the baby in the manger, and the shepherds hearing the good news from the angles as they sang of the glorious news. Mary, the mother of Jesus, was in awe as she pondered on what these things meant and the greatness of God.
This year, take some time to think about the greatness of God and stand in awe of the wonderful news as you listen to the story of Jesus and hear Christmas carols play. Let’s allow the light of Jesus to shine into our world, into the shadows and darkness that try to encroach upon us. Let the light of Jesus show us the way to a home with Him forever.
